HYDROCID
(Aluminium Hydroxide BP. Magnesium Hydroxide BP.)
DESCRIPTION
HYDROCID is an antacid containing a combination of Aluminium Hydroxide compressed gel and Magnesium Hydroxide BP for suspension and Aluminium hydroxide dried gel BP and Magnesium Hydroxide BP for tablet.
Mechanism of Action:
Combination of Aluminium Hydroxide and Magnesium Hydroxide is a nonsystemic buffer antacid. It neutralizes the gastric Hydrochloric acid according to the following mechanism.
Al (OH)3 + 3HCl = AlCl3 + 3H2O
Mg (OH)2 + 2HCl = MgCl2 + 2H2O
The buffering action of the combined Aluminium Hydroxide and Magnesium Hydroxide permits a reduction of gastric acidity, thus it does not increase the pH of the gastric juice to the point of complete suppression of the peptic digestion. The formed Aluminium Chloride and Magnesium Chloride together prevent constipation. Thus HYDROCID reduces acidity and consitipation.
INDICATION:
Hyperacidity, Gastric and duodenal ulcers .
